What is periodontal disease?

Periodontitis, colloquially also called periodontal disease, describes an inflammatory disease of the periodontium. This consists of the surrounding tissue and the bone. The development and progression of the disease usually goes unnoticed. If left untreated, periodontal disease leads to tooth loosening and tooth loss. Regular checks by periodontal experts are all the more important in order to keep your teeth firm and healthy.
